December 2023

Amazon's communications in December was marked by the communication of Amazon Stars project, which brought touching stories of employees with good hearts. But we have also published some interesting employee stories, managed journalist’s inquiries, and worked hard on communication topics for 2024.

... we have secured an interview with the top tier economic daily E15. In the interview, which has been published both in print and online, Amazon’s GM Michal Šmíd talks about the new robotic centre in Kojetín, the Christmas peak and the future of work in Amazon. Extra.cz, Blesk.cz, TV NOVA (TV broadcast) and several other media presented a powerful story of this year’s Amazon Star Jarmila, who devotes all her free time to help abandoned dogs in need.

In the same broadcast, TV NOVA also conducted an interview with Amazon’s HR Manager Zuzana Zajacová on employee benefits. Additionaly, Newstream.cz and Systémy logistiky (print) informed about the new robotic FC in Kojetín and MF DNES (print), Lidovky.cz and other media published statements of Amazon representatives regarding regarding the Christmas peak and rising wages in the Czech Republic.

...we have published the last two outputs from the Delivering the Future event written by a Slovak journalist Martin Miškerík who attended the Seattle event. Both articles were published on our TML media - on Trend.sk and in the print version Trend. We then focused on our major project Amazon Star. We prepared a story about an Amazon Star winner Lenka, who donates her hair for wigs for cancer patients.

Last month we had a nice reportage in TV Markíza and this month we finished the articles we published in our two huge TML media Cas.sk and 1.Pluska.sk. It was an amazing end of the year with great articles and we gained an amazing reach.

In December, following our annual tradition, we held the Amazon Stars contest to honor our employees who shine not only in their professional roles but also in their personal commitments to charity. We are immensely proud of our team members for their dedication to helping those in need and making a difference in their local communities. This year, we recognized Tomasz Jurczyk for organizing charity picnics and fairs in his hometown (POZ1), Nicol Świtelska for her tireless efforts in animal welfare (WRO1), and Artur Hajnce (WRO1) for his volunteer work with the fire department.

Artur's story was particularly highlighted when he was featured in an episode of the series "People with Passion" on Poland's TVP2 morning show "Pytanie na Śniadanie". Outside of his role as an Area Manager at Amazon, Artur serves as a firefighter in his spare time. His passion doesn't stop there - he is also committed to educating children and teenagers about safety, teaching them how to respond to and avoid danger. It's truly inspiring to have such dedicated individuals like Artur as part of our team!

There were several important events during Q4 in CEE. Firstly, we have organized a press trip to an Amazon event „Delivering the future” in Seattle. 4 journalists from the major Czech and Slovak media attended the event and got a behind-the-scenes look into how Amazon innovates delivering services. In total, we generated 15 outputs in CZ and SK with a total daily reach of 10.4 milion, all with positive/neutral sentiment. Here are some online articles you can read: the ECOPAC machine or  drone delivery on Seznamzpravy.cz, the robots from BFI1 in Sumner, WA, Amazon Go, The Spheres or free bananas giveaway on iDNES.cz/MF DNES, or humanoid robots on Trend.sk. Following the media tour of BTS2, an interview with Miloš Jasenčak, General Manager, was published on HNonline.sk and in the printed daily Hospodárské noviny.

Czech daily newspaper Deník (print) and Plus7dni.pluska.sk informed about Amazon’s programme Chareer Choice, which helps associates to pursue further education in any age. In addition to this, we have published 17 inspirational employee stories about building their careers at Amazon. In addition, we have communicated another succesful year of Amazon Goes Gold. This year's edition was the first to include the new robotic centre BRQ2, and thanks to our employees involved in the event, Amazon donated over CZK 500.000 to the Czech foundation Kapka naděje, EUR 19.000 to the Slovak NGO Svetielko nádeje, and USD 1.294 to another Slovak NGO Plamienok nádeje. This CSR activity was also part of our communication plan and generated 2 articles in TML.
